Let me tell you about my last weekend, which took me on a visit to the Starzlachklamm gorge and a hike to Alpe Topfen. Both destinations are just a stone's throw away from the charming chalets and promise experiences you shouldn't miss.
Adventure in the Starzlachklamm gorge
The day started early as the first rays of sunshine crept over the peaks of the Allgäu Alps and bathed the valley in a golden light. After a hearty breakfast in our cozy chalet, we laced up our hiking boots and made our way to the Starzlachklamm gorge. The way there took us through the picturesque village of Burgberg and Winkel until we reached the entrance to the Starzlachklamm gorge along bubbling streams. The Starzlachklamm gorge is an impressive natural wonder, just a few kilometers from the Alpzitt Chalets. As soon as you enter the gorge, you are enveloped by the cool, humid climate, which offers welcome refreshment on hot summer days.
The path through the gorge is a real adventure. Wooden footbridges and bridges lead you along roaring waterfalls and through narrow gorges. Over thousands of years, the power of the water has shaped an impressive landscape here that never fails to take your breath away. The play of light and shadow is particularly fascinating when the sun breaks through the narrow crevices and transforms the water into sparkling jewels.
At the end of the gorge, we found a quiet place to let the impressions sink in and simply enjoy the here and now. The sound of the water and the silence of nature allowed us to completely forget our everyday lives.
Special stop at the Alpe Topfen
After our impressive visit to the Starzlachklamm gorge, we continued on our way to Alpe Topfen. The path led us through lush meadows and shady forests, accompanied by the chirping of birds and the scent of fresh mountain air.
After a short hike (approx. 15 minutes) we reached Alpe Topfen. The cheerful ringing of cowbells could be heard from afar and the sight of the idyllic alpine pasture made our hearts beat faster. Alpe Topfen is a traditional alpine dairy farm where cheese is still made using traditional methods. We sat down on the sun terrace and enjoyed the view of the surrounding mountains. A cheese platter with fresh products from the Alpe and a cool drink made the break perfect. It was a moment of peace and enjoyment, far away from everyday life.
Return to the chalet and pure relaxation
After a day full of exercise and impressions, we returned to our chalet in the early evening. The cozy atmosphere and crackling fireplace invited us to relax. With a glass of wine on the terrace, we looked back on the day and enjoyed the experiences we had been able to share.
